We are currently looking for a Community Engagement Officer for a leading health charity to raise awareness and recruit potential blood stem cell donors through various events and campaigns so they can fulfil the organisations mission of finding a suitable match for every blood cancer patient in need of a transplant.

The organisation has grown to become the worlds largest stem cell donor centre. Over 8 million potential donors have registered across the four countries and more than 69,000 people have made a potentially lifesaving blood stem cell donation. Since starting in the UK in 2013, this organisation has registered over 350,000 potential donors
In this role you will represent the organisation in public and inform about stem cell and bone marrow donation. You will prepare and deliver presentations to companies, community groups and other organisations to promote the work of the organisation, liaise with journalists and organise local public relations for events. You will also train volunteers and give advice about how they can effectively manage donor recruitment events, educate the public about blood cancer and raise funds for registration. This role involves networking with relevant partners such as but not limited to patient support groups, volunteers, companies, schools & universities and media representatives in establishing opportunities for the charity and identify and generate leads to attract new donors and supporters.
Will have experience of project management particularly in community event planning and organisation.
Will have the ability to form effective internal and external relationships and have both sensitivity and empathy in working with people.
Will have strong communication, presentation and organisational skills.
Previous experience of working with the media would be advantageous but not essential.
