We are looking for a talented Grants Officer who thrives on writing compelling, well-judged applications; who works collaboratively with others in the organisation to help cultivate support, and who takes pride in seeing the results create changing services for beneficiaries. You will be joining a small medium sized charity with a nationally recognised brand who are as much for their staff, as they do for their beneficiaries.
A medium sized social welfare charity whos name and brand is recognised nationwide. This is a fantastic time to join the charity - last year, they launched a new 5 Year Plan which sets out ambitious goals for the organisation including a doubling of the number of people in crisis they help by 2021/22. To achieve this, they will continue to grow income over this time in a considered and sustainable way, taking the charity from c. 3.8m this financial year to over 6m pa.
Being responsible for supporting the Grants Manager in securing and managing income against a defined target from a variety of sources, developing enduring funder relationships. Potential funders include charitable trusts and foundations, livery companies, Big Lottery Fund and non-commissioned statutory funds. A key part of this role will be working with services, policy and finance teams cross the organisation to ensure project plans are developed to enable successful funding applications.
Research prospective supporters and build relationships to create a pipeline of key prospects aligned with the charitys funding needs;
Take ownership of our small grants mailing programme to grow this income stream from trusts for sums of up to 5,000, monitoring income and stewarding funders;
Working closely with the Manager, develop high quality and inspiring large bids and reports in partnership with colleagues across the charity that meet long-term plans to ensure that applications you make stand a strong chance of success.
Knowledge of the charity sector and different types of funding sources;
Experience in a trust fundraising and/or statutory fundraising role;
An understanding of trends in grant giving and emerging funding streams;
Excellent written skills in drafting compelling bids, presentations, reports, briefings;
Ability to undertake prospect research and develop donor plans;
A high level of competence in using relationship management databases (ideally Raisers Edge NXT) and Microsoft Office software notably Excel and Word;
