We are recruiting for a Temporary HR Advisor for a passionate support based charity for Prisoners , you will be providing HR and Health and Safety guidance, support and expertise to managers and employees in line with policies, best practice and legislation, and coaching and training managers to build their confidence in managing people. They will consider a temp to perm on this role,
Provide first line generalist HR advice and support on terms and conditions of employment and HR policies and procedures in line with policy, practice and legislation. with a view to resolving matters on advice.
Deliver Manager inductions relating to the Code of Conduct and other key HR policy areas
Maintain personal awareness of recognised best practice, employment case law, and any personnel requirements in the charity / criminal justice sectors, making use of resources such as ACAS, XpertHR and other resources.
Work independently and autonomously to manage low level to complex casework including probation, performance, fixed term contract, grievance, capability or conduct issues up to and including dismissal, with the support of the HR Manager. Assist with and carry out investigations and appeals as needed.
Organise and manage all aspects of the family-friendly processes including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and unpaid leave and oversee re-integration on return from leave ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and Managers and other HR colleagues are kept fully up to date
Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals, absence management issues
and return to work cases to managers.
Monitor and respond to accident and incident reports including supporting investigations and seeking support from our Health and Safety Consultant
Deliver management information and learning from incidents and accidents
Review and provide advice on individual risk assessments which may be completed for pregnant women, people with health conditions or disabilities process or vulnerable people.
Support the HR Manager and HR Director in promoting employee and workforce wellbeing and learning from casework, EAP usage reports or
Assist in the development or review of HR policy, procedure or guidance as required.
Coach, support and assist with training managers to understand and implement policy, guidance and practice
Support line managers to identify resourcing or recruitment needs for example as part of
Prior experience of working in employee relations or a generalist HR role
Excellent generalist/operational HR experience at HR adviser, HR People Partner level or equivalent.
Proven practical experience in managing complex ER cases including absence, disciplinary, grievances and appeals.
Experience in handling TUPE and redundancies.
Proven experience of proactively partnering with managers to influence, coach and improve operational service delivery and build management capability
Experience of providing support and guidance to managers across a range of HR policies and procedures.
Exposure to the principles involved in managing or advising on HR employee relations casework.
Grad CIPD or working towards with a commitment to continuous professional development. A level or equivalent (E)
Working knowledge of key employment legislation and best practice. / Awareness of latest developments within employment legislation
Excellent skill and use of HR Systems
